Desyree Dixon Claim

Desyree specializes in working with individuals and couples who are stuck and unable to make the changes they need to move their lives forward. The issues can manifest as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief or loss. S​ince opening the practice, she has empowered hundreds of individuals and couples to overcome the personal obstacles necessary to improve themselves as well as their relationships. By tailoring the diagnostic plan to fit each client’s unique needs and goals, she has equipped them with the skills, knowledge and tools necessary to achieve their best life. Desyree utilizes various scientifically proven, highly effective therapeutic modalities including EMDR, Brainspotting, Gottman Couples Relationship Therapy, Psychodynamic, Trauma Focused CBT, EFT and Solutions Focused Therapy. She also specializes in treating PTSD and vicarious trauma, which are especially acute among first responders (healthcare professionals, police officers, firefighters, EMTs, military personnel) and those who work with youth and at risk populations (teachers and other education professionals, social workers, nonprofit and government employees). Desyree received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and her graduate degree from University of Maryland. She received her training as a family trauma specialist from the John’s Hopkins University School of Medicine affiliate Kennedy Krieger Institute. Desyree is a regular contributor as a psychological consultant to our local tv stations as well as TV One, WEAA radio, WFBR radio and Marriage.com, where she discusses trauma, relationships, self esteem, depression and anxiety.
